This book was published by Whitman Publishing Co. on March 9, 1936. It is a large book about 9 1/2” tall and 7 1/2” wide. The pages are like those of a coloring book with full page drawings on just about every other page. Illustrations by Juanita Bennett.
Mr. Burroughs wrote this story geared toward young children which continues the adventures of teenagers Dick and Doc first introduced in “Tarzan and the Tarzan Twins”.
There exists two states of this first edition. For both states, the number “4056” is printed on the spine. However, one version also includes the words “Tarzan” and “Burroughs” and an illustration of Tarzan's head (as shown to the right). Most likely the printing with the Tarzan graphic on the spine is the first printing as it is more elaborate.
On Dec. 2007 Brian J. Bohnett e-mailed to say that he located invoices from Whitman in the Burroughs archives in Tarzana, CA which showed that there were 48,000 books for one printing and another 49,000 for the second printing. Unfortunately no information was found to confirm which was the first printing.

In 1963 Canaveral Press included this story along with Volland's “Tarzan and the Tarzan Twins” to create the first publication of both stories in the same book. This book kept the title the same as the original, “Tarzan and the Tarzan Twins” (see photos below).
